Saturday night was good ol’ time. The Appleseed Collective and Mike Vial performed at The Ark in Ann Arbor.
Mike Vial’s performance was heart felt and warming. He had a wonderful on stage presence and the fact that he came out to play after being in an recent accident was impressive. He brought lightness and humor to the situation throughout his performance. I particularly enjoyed his song, which he wrote about the Syrian refugee crisis, “Girl on the Mountain, Boy on the Beach…” He has a new album out “A World That’s Bigger”, and it has got some catchy tunes, I would definitely recommend checking it out.

The Appleseed Collective always puts on a good show. These extremely skilled musicians never cease to impress me. Their performance was playful and interactive, freezing action on stage, creating humorous awkward silences and tossing candy to the audience, ’tis the season’, we loved it. “Journey” a song written by Eric, the bass player, about his friend sent a sobering vibe through the crowd. It hit me hard emotionally and I do not think I was alone. The song was somber and beautiful. It was enough to get me to feel weak in the bones, that I couldn’t even hold my camera up any longer. The Appleseed Collective has a new studio album coming up and I am very much looking forward to hearing it. – A
