The gloomy gray sky, the falling of the leaves, the decay. Something about it directs my mind towards the arrangements of the classical.

Frederic Chopin appeases my need for the melancholy with his music keyed in minor. Particular arrangements such as Nocturnes, Op.55 No.1 in F Minor and Nocturne, Op. 37 No.1 in G Minor by Chopin sets a somber tone for this dismal but charming season. I also enjoy his music that invokes a whimsical feeling such as Nocturne, Op. 15 No 2 in F-Sharp Major and Nocturne, Op. 32 No 2 in A-Flat Major.

The role of the music here is not to take the foreground but to become a part of life. To accentuate and augment the surrounding scene and beauty.

I listen and my eye attunes to the small and the simple yet beautiful….

There is nothing like the fall season to make me enjoy the simpler things in life. A heated studio apartment downtown, warm blankets, good literature, hot apple cider, a neighborhood full of quirky Halloween decorations, and classical music.

What does this season put you the mood for? Feel free to leave a reply. – A
